🔍 Arizona Labor & Employment Laws – What You Need to Know

Arizona law sets clear standards for employers, workers, and service providers. All hiring and service posts must comply with the following:

  • Minimum Wage: As of 2026, Arizona's minimum wage is $16.00 per hour for non-exempt employees, adjusted annually for cost of living. The tipped minimum wage is $12.00 per hour (with tip credit). This rate is established by Proposition 206 and remains one of the highest in the region.
  • Paid Sick Leave: Under Proposition 206, Arizona employers with 15 or more employees must provide up to 40 hours of paid sick leave per year. Employers with fewer than 15 employees must provide up to 24 hours of paid sick leave per year. Leave accrues at a minimum of one hour for every 30 hours worked.
  • Workplace Rights: Arizona law prohibits discrimination and retaliation in the workplace. Workers have the right to file complaints with the Arizona Attorney General's Office, the Industrial Commission of Arizona, or the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).
  • Licensing Requirements: Many professions – including contractors, electricians, plumbers, cosmetologists, real estate agents, and others – require a valid license issued by the appropriate Arizona licensing board or commission. Anyone posting professional services must verify they hold the appropriate license.
  • Notice Requirements: Employers must display required labor law postings in the workplace, including information about workers' compensation, anti-discrimination protections, minimum wage, and paid sick leave rights.
