1) Check Trade Ratings
Once on the member's profile, examine their trade history in the right-hand pane. By reviewing their past ratings, you can assess how well they handled previous transactions, particularly those relevant to your current interest.2) Reviewing Member History
After accessing the profile of the user you intend to trade with, review the "History" and "Complaints" tabs located in the right-hand sidebar. If there are any open or past complaints, check whether they have been resolved. In the "History" section, you can also view any previous bans, including the reasons behind them. By examining these details, you can make an informed decision and gain better insight into the user's trading background.3) Member Verification Status
Look for the blue badge next to the user's name to confirm if they have completed SSN/ITIN and phone number verification.4) Verifying Name Consistency with Bank Account Details
Check if the full name provided in the bank account details matches the full name associated with the user's profile.5) Assessing Transaction History Relevance
Check whether the member has prior experience on the forum with the specific type of trade you are conducting. For example, if a user has only engaged in domain trading but is now attempting to sell you Bitcoin, proceed with caution. Never send funds before receiving the assets. Always be extra vigilant when dealing with users whose requested trade falls outside their established transaction history.6) Requesting Verification via Direct Message (DM)
If a user contacts you via messaging platforms such as WhatsApp or Telegram claiming to be a member of StateGigs (e.g., "I am [Username] from StateGigs, I want to trade with you"), always request that they verify their identity by sending you a Direct Message (DM) through the forum. You may ask them to send their phone number, trade details, or account information via DM on StateGigs. Please be aware that malicious users may attempt a "triangulation" scam by messaging you and another party simultaneously to deceive both sides. Therefore, strictly require that the trading party confirms all transaction details via a formal DM on StateGigs before proceeding.
7) Reviewing Forum Activity
After accessing the member's profile, examine their activity by clicking the "Find all threads by [User]" and "Find all posts by [User]" links located on the left side of the page. Reviewing their post history and thread history is essential; for example, if a user with an old registration date has been inactive for two years and suddenly appears to initiate a trade, this may be an indicator of suspicious behavior. The account could potentially be compromised. We strongly recommend exercising caution in such cases.8) Verify Identity via Forum DM
When contacted via messaging apps such as WhatsApp or Telegram, always request that they verify their identity by sending you a Direct Message (DM) through the forum (as outlined in Step 6). Do not rely solely on phone numbers shared outside the platform, as these can be easily spoofed or faked.9) Manage Your Time Effectively
Before committing to a trade or project, ensure you have sufficient time to complete it. Claiming to be unavailable after accepting a job puts you in an unfavorable position and can damage your reputation. Therefore, plan your workload and schedule in advance to ensure you can meet your commitments.10) Adhere to Agreed Terms
Establish all terms of the trade or project clearly with the other party before initiating the transaction. Define all details, including payment terms, delivery timeframes, and scope of work in advance. Ensure that you conduct the trade exactly according to these pre-agreed conditions. Failure to fulfill the agreed-upon requirements will place you in an unfavorable position. If the other party requests tasks beyond the initial agreement, you are within your rights to decline by referring to the original terms. Always discuss all details thoroughly before starting any trade or project.11) Monitor Communication for Consistency
When discussing the details of a trade or project, analyze the consistency of the other party's communication. If the user's statements contain clear contradictions or appear suspicious, request that they fulfill their portion of the agreement (such as performing the work or processing the payment) first. If they refuse to comply with reasonable requests, we recommend that you decline to proceed with the trade.12) Provide Post-Trade Ratings
Once the trade or project has been finalized and successfully concluded, please provide a trade rating for the other party. By sharing your experience, you provide valuable insights for other members who may consider working with this individual in the future, fostering a safer and more transparent community for everyone.13) Protect Your Personal Information
Never share your physical home address, full date of birth, or financial account details (bank logins, credit card numbers) with another user. For shipping or payment purposes, use P.O. Boxes or business addresses when possible. StateGigs will never ask for this information. Sharing sensitive PII is at your own risk.14) Avoid Third-Party Escrow Scams
StateGigs does not offer, endorse, or partner with any third-party escrow services. If a buyer or seller directs you to an external escrow website, it is almost certainly a scam. Legitimate transactions on StateGigs do not require external escrow. Conduct all communications and verifications within the platform.Important Warnings
When engaging in trades, please keep the following safety protocols in mind:- Exercise Caution with High-Value Transactions: If you are dealing with individuals you do not know personally, we strongly advise against face-to-face meetings unless conducted in a safe, public location such as a police station lobby or a bank branch during business hours. If you have even the slightest doubt, refrain from the trade entirely.
